The Alameda Park Zoo was founded in 1898 with a small selection of sea birds and deer. Today, the shady seven acre zoo houses 90 different species, a total of almost 300 animals. Visitors can enjoy playful otters, colorful birds, endangered wolves, and be entertained by the antics of the zoo’s many monkeys. The zoo also provides travelers a shady picnic area and a playground on the seven acres of the city park.
