This park safeguards historical and archaeological remnants of the culture and agricultural lifestyle of the Northern Plains Indians. There are various hiking paths that are ideal for bird watching, wildlife viewing, fishing, and picnics. A visitor’s center with museum shows a 15-minute orientation film which explains the history of the Hidatsa tribe. A full Hidatsa earth hut is located behind the visitor’s center.
