This miniature park is located in Ruhla, and is built in a 1:25 scale. Lovingly detailed everyday scenes breathe life into true-to-life models constructed in a Thüringen workshop. There’s lots to discover, for visitors young and old alike. More than 100 models are currently on display, and more are under construction. Model trains also drive through the landscape. One especially interesting attraction for train lovers is the cable railway in Oberweißbach.
The park also offers a kid’s playground, a little outdoor enclosure, a children’s train, and mini-scooters.
Right beside mini-a-thür, a summer bobsled run also gives guests a thrill.

The Zürich Zoo is one of the best zoos in Europe, and is located outside of the city on the Zürichberg. The zoo aims to build a bridge between humans and animals. Its motto is “If you understand animals, you will protect them.” It is located on a slope, and guests will notice an incline throughout the zoo. Thanks to wide, paved streets, however, it doesn’t pose a problem for visitors. Pathways lead through the different habitats of the zoo’s roughly 4,000 animals. In the newly opened elephant enclosure, for instance, visitors can view the elephants through a glass window as they swim, or watch them eat through a glass floor. Even in bad weather, visitors won’t be disappointed - many of the animal facilities are heated. The large park grounds house three restaurants and a cafe, with a self-service restaurant, “Masoala,” in the rain forest hall of the same name.

The Masoala rain forest hall, about a hectare in size, is the main attraction at the zoo, whisking visitors away to the rain forests of Madagascar. If you pay close attention on a tour or on the treetop pathway, you’ll discover a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish. Specialties from Madagascar are on offer in the restaurant, separated from the hall by a large glass window.

This natural history museum is interesting and exciting, even for young kids. For instance, it offers an animated show about the Megadolon, a giant shark and the terror of the ancient oceans. Visitors can also travel through time as light, sound, and speech simulations guide them through various periods in Earth’s history. Besides 3D and 4D films, the museum also provides insights into the work of paleontologists and taxidermists, and visitors can even watch taxidermy at certain times of day. The Prehistorium allows guests to wander through true-to-life landscapes from Earth’s history, experiencing the history of our planet with all of their senses. In the world’s largest dino-show with giant animatronic dinosaurs, you’ll meet the Titanosaurus, Giganotosaurus and Aucasaurus in a dry Cretaceous era landscape in Patagonia. There’s also an 800 square meter indoor playground where kids can play to their heart’s content.

Over 200 small and large dinosaurs are showcased in this amusement park - guests will also find informative explanations about the lives of each one and the eras in which they lived. Visitors can play on water playgrounds, dig in an excavation area, sculpt their own plastic dinosaurs, hang out on climbing walls, and enjoy many other activities in a variety of themed areas. Bodo, the park’s mascot for little visitors, is also on hand.
Another great feature: The website also includes lots of great information on the dinosaurs, which is written to appeal to children, and offers a wealth of templates to inspire kids to color and craft.

In the children’s playground paradise of “Arche Noah” (Noah’s Ark), kids can slide, climb, crawl, swing, balance, do gymnastics, hang out on the monkey bars, and much more. Attractions include:

One giant room contains a unique marble run. KUGELWELT is the world’s largest marble run. It was constructed for the World Expo in 2000 in Hanover, where it was a children’s attraction. A variety of individual tracks with different styles offer fun for young and old visitors alike.

A 90m long spiral slide with stopwatch function is your gateway to wet and wild fun. Fun pools are warm at 30°C, with lots of bubble features stirring up tiny waves - there, a big wooden ship and a water canon are awaiting your little pirates.
There are a play house, a fountain, and a kiddie pool with warm 34 degree water for the smallest guests.
There is also an outdoor swimming area in the summer.

The Steinau Discovery Park combines rides, game and fun stations, and an animal / nature / plant area under one roof. Visitors between three and eight years can start off with a thrill on the summer bobsled track, the swing ride, or the somersault swings, then play on a pirate ship or look for gold in the mining sluice. There’s also a hall of mirrors, a climbing castle, a maze, a forest playground, and much more.
In the ANIMALS, PLANTS, AND NATURE area there are pony rides, a petting zoo, an herb garden, a vegetable garden, and other nature-themed play areas.
The littlest visitors can ride on a miniature train, enjoy the ball pit, and play to their hearts’ content on the kids’ playground.

The Ocean Museum is located in Stralsund, and provides insights into the fascinating life of a tropical underwater world. Visitors can see tangs, octopuses, anemones, blowfish, sea horses, pinecone fish, scarlet cleaner shrimp, and much more. The staff uses skeletons of whales and dolphins to explain the differences between the creatures, and relics from earlier eras to explain how fishing has changed over time. The exploitation of our oceans and climate change and its effects are explained in the “Humans and the Ocean” area.
The topic of the year for 2015 is the deep sea.

Pirate Rock is located right beside the Wietzepark Sea House, and is a high ropes course with a pirate ship theme. Parents and kids over 8 who love to climb will find thrills, fun, and challenges - whether they’re beginners or advanced climbers. There are three different difficulty levels (easy, medium, and hard). The facility offers a total of 140 meters of zip lines, 28 climbing elements, and much more.
